AdvaTx Laser Treatment for Spider Veins/Telangiectasia

Spider veins are one of the cosmetic blemishes, though generally harmless, can cause some to want to cover up even in the heat when it is inconvenient. Treating the teeny-tiny blood vessels on the surface of the skin, spider veins is rarely a medical necessity (though some seek treatment to relieve the aching the veins can cause or the unpleasant roadmap on the face), but for those who want it, spider vein-free skin is just a laser treatment away.

No one knows why some people develop spider veins and others don’t, but genetics, the hormone estrogen, & possibly the hormone progesterone are thought to play a role. Spider veins, especially on the legs, appear more frequently in women than in men, but men tend to have more telangiectasia than women. Spider veins are particularly common in pregnant women & those taking oral contraceptives or hormone-replacement therapy.

At Focal Point, getting rid of spider veins is safe and easy.

How are Spider Veins Caused

Spider veins on the face are often the result of tiny broken blood vessels becoming inflamed from a skin irritation. Increased pressure or sun damage can cause this to occur and can cause a loss in confidence.

In the legs, spider veins can occur when the valves inside the veins stop working properly. If this valve weakens or becomes damaged, the blood may struggle to flow in the correct direction, & begin to pool inside the vein. Over time, this can cause a bulge in the vein that branches out, resulting in spider veins.

Treatment options for Spider Veins at Focal Point

Our aesthetic providers will review the areas of concern to determine the best treatment option for the spider veins. Focal Point offers cutting edge laser technology from AdvaTx & can treat spider veins that are smaller than 3 millimeters & close to the surface of the skin. The laser is a strong, focused beam of light that specifically targets the vessels, heats them up, & causes them to collapse. This does not mean we’ve gotten rid of them, though. We’ve merely closed the blood vessels down, but they can reopen.

The treatment takes around 15 minutes, with no downtime.

Laser treatments are less invasive than sclerotherapy or closure system because there are no injections that take place.

After Treatment Care

Each guest will be provided post care therapy instructions for optimal results. Proper sun protection will be recommended, including daily use of a facial moisturizer with SPF 30. When outdoors, a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 50 should be worn. Focal Point offers medical grade products from SkinMedia & Skinceuticals. Sun protective clothing, like a wide brimmed hat, should also be used to maximize sun protection.

When Will You See Results

The treatment will cause instant visible results & with most vascular treatments you will see progress within the first 24 hours. Depending on the size of the spider veins, one to three treatments may be required to achieve desired results.

Telangiectasias would require laser therapy for three to four sessions every three to four months. After that, a touch-up treatment every six months to one year or as needed may be necessary.
